The Air Races have been run since 1964 near Reno Nevada, and are currently held at Reno Stead Airfield, about 8 miles north of Reno.  The next National Championship Air Races and Air Show will take place at Reno Stead Field Wednesday through Sunday, September 13-17, 2006.

 

Six classes of aircraft are scheduled to race in 2006, including: Biplane class, Formula One, Sport Class, T-6 class, Jet Class and the Unlimited class, which is open to any piston driven aircraft with an empty weight greater then 4500 pounds.
